Interchange optimization

Improve qualification before negotiating markup

Talk with TSC

Common challenges

  • Corporate and purchasing cards qualifying without enhanced data
  • Downgrades hidden inside dense monthly statements
  • A processor-rate discussion that ignores underlying interchange
  • Gateway or ERP fields that do not pass the required transaction data

How TSC helps

  • Transaction-level qualification analysis
  • Level 2 and Level 3 data review
  • Card-brand and card-mix assessment
  • Gateway, processor, and ERP data-flow validation

Commercial card data and today’s rules

Extra transaction detail can affect eligible commercial-card fees. Visa’s US Commercial Enhanced Data Program (CEDP) has replaced its legacy Level 2/3 programs. Mastercard has separate requirements. TSC checks card eligibility, data quality, gateway and processor support, and the actual net cost before recommending changes.

Frequently asked questions

Your questions answered.

Is interchange the same as processor markup?

No. Interchange is generally paid to the card-issuing bank, while processor markup is the provider’s added pricing. They should be evaluated separately.

Does Level 2 or Level 3 data guarantee lower fees?

No. Qualification depends on card type, network rules, transaction method, submitted data, timing, and processor configuration. TSC validates the actual opportunity before projecting an outcome.
